A ferry across the lake is one of the many add-ons available to admission. The woman at the ticket office was shocked that I opted only for the inexpensive grounds pass.

The "bronze ox" or "tóng niú", which apparently used to be called the "jīn niú", or "golden ox". Perhaps he grew dull over time. Apparently he's here to prevent Beijing from floods.
